American Idol "The Great Holiday Classics" (RCA) The American Idols sure can sing, but their disc of traditional holiday tunes is rather unimpressive.

It's full of traditional orchestrated Christmas tunes, such as Clay Aiken's version of "The First Noel," and two ensemble pieces.

Aiken, Ruben Studdard, Tamyra Gray and Justin Guarini sing up to Simon Cowell's brutally high standards, but Cowell might slam Kimberley Locke's version of "The Christmas Song" with a barb like "Although it was good, I don't see that as an American Idol-winning performance."

Aside from Studdard's funky R&B tune "This Christmas," the tunes on "The Great Holiday Classics" are basically background music for decorating Christmas trees on a cold December night.

The standout performance doesn't come until the bonus disc featuring Kelly Clarkson, who performs two Whitney Houston-esque tunes "Oh Holy Night" and "My Grown Up Christmas List."

In all, if this disc went up against the great holiday albums of all time, it wouldn't even make it past the first round.
